Type Locality and Naming

By the ridge of Kundalyangtau, Southwest Gissar. Kh.Kh. Mirkamalov, 1971 (51, p.62). Stratotype in Kundalyangtau. Middle formation in Okuzbulak Gr. Corresponds to the middle (marine) part of the Okuzbulak Fm (Okuzbulak Gr) or the lower part of the Lower Okuzbulak Formation. S.N. Simakova. (55; 415; 452).

Synonym: Kundalyangtauskaya Suite, Кундалянтауская св.


Lithology and Thickness

At the bottom - gray and dark gray clays with layers of clayey limestones; at the top - alternation of siltstone (aleurolites), clays, greenish and brownish-gray limestones.

Lower contact

Lies conformably on the Machay Fm

Upper contact

It is conformably overlain by the Lyalimkan Fm

Fossils

Contains ammonites Deshayesites ex gr. antiquas Bogd.; marine bivalve mollusks - Ceratostreon vinokurovae Mirk., Exogyra trigonalis Mirk.; foraminifera - Miliammina mjatliukae Dain., M. kuznetzovae S. Mam., Gyroidinoides sokolovae (Mjatl.); ostracods Antepraijenborchella praealta turkmenica Andrv., Asciocythere parabrevis Andrv. et Oertli. and a complex of spores and pollen.
